The Business Head – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be responsible for leading the strategic growth, business development, project execution, and profitability of the company's energy storage business. The role requires deep expertise in utility\-scale BESS projects, renewable energy integration, grid stabilization solutions, EPC project management, and energy market dynamics.
The incumbent will drive market expansion, establish strategic partnerships, manage key customer relationships, and oversee the successful delivery of BESS projects from concept development through commissioning and operations.
- *Business Strategy \& Growth**
- Develop and execute the company's BESS business strategy aligned with organizational growth objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities in utility\-scale storage, renewable energy integration, microgrids, industrial energy management, and grid support services.
- Build a robust pipeline of BESS projects across public and private sectors.
- Establish strategic partnerships with battery manufacturers, inverter suppliers, EPC contractors, utilities, and renewable energy developers.
- Develop market\-entry strategies for emerging energy storage applications and technologies.
- *Business Development \& Sales**
- Lead customer acquisition efforts across utilities, renewable energy developers, industrial clients, data centers, and commercial customers.
- Manage the complete sales lifecycle including lead generation, technical proposals, bid submissions, contract negotiations, and deal closures.
- Participate in government tenders and utility procurement programs for energy storage projects.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive activities to identify growth opportunities.
- Drive achievement of annual order intake, revenue, and profitability targets.
- *Project Development \& Execution**
- Provide leadership for the development and execution of BESS projects from feasibility studies through commissioning.
- Oversee:
- Standalone BESS Projects
- Solar \+ Storage Projects
- Wind \+ Storage Projects
- Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems
- Microgrid Projects
- Peak Shaving and Load Management Systems
- Grid Ancillary Services Applications
- Ensure project delivery within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
- *Commercial \& Financial Management**
- Own P\&L responsibility for the BESS business unit.
- Develop project financial models and business cases.
- Evaluate project economics including LCOS (Levelized Cost of Storage), IRR, ROI, and payback analysis.
- Manage project costing, pricing strategies, margins, and cash flow.
- Support financing discussions with investors, lenders, and strategic partners.
* Provide strategic direction on battery technologies including
- Lithium\-Ion (LFP, NMC)
- Hybrid Storage Solutions
- Guide technical teams on:
- Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- Energy Management Systems (EMS)
- SCADA Integration

- Ensure compliance with applicable grid codes, safety regulations, and international standards.
- *Regulatory \& Stakeholder Management**
- Engage with utilities, regulators, government agencies, and industry bodies.
- Monitor policy developments related to energy storage, renewable integration, and ancillary services markets.
- Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and customer engagements.
- Develop relationships with transmission companies, distribution utilities, and energy market operators.
- Build and lead high\-performing teams across business development, engineering, project execution, and operations.
- Develop organizational capabilities in energy storage technologies and project management.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer focus.
- Mentor future leaders within the business unit.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or related field (Mandatory)
- MBA, Master's Degree in Energy Management, Power Systems, or Business Administration (Preferred)
- 15\+ years of experience in power, renewable energy, energy storage, electrical infrastructure, or EPC industries.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in business development, project management, or P\&L management.
- Demonstrated experience in utility\-scale BESS, renewable energy projects, or grid infrastructure projects.
- Experience with government tenders, utility procurement programs, and large\-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of energy markets and storage economics.
