About Us
Windowmaker Software Limited is a highly esteemed software company in the window and door industry. With over 40 years of experience, we have built a reputation for crafting innovative, industry\-leading solutions trusted by customers worldwide. We are scaling our cloud platform and the internal systems that run the business, and this role is central to keeping both fast, secure, and reliable.
Why This Role Exists
We are upgrading this position from a traditional system administrator to a Systems \& Cloud Engineer. The difference is ownership and leverage. We do not want someone who only reacts to tickets. We want an engineer who runs our internal IT and cloud environment (identity, endpoints, Microsoft 365, security operations, and the Azure resources that support the business) as a product: automating the repetitive work, hardening security by default, and using modern AI\-assisted tooling to do more with a small team.
Key ResponsibilitiesCloud and Infrastructure
- **Operate and right\-size** Microsoft Azure resources used by the business, including cost governance, monitoring, tagging, and acting on Azure Advisor and security recommendations.
- **Maintain on\-premises and cloud** server, storage, networking, and telecommunication systems, planning upgrades and replacements before they become emergencies.
- **Maintain** a healthy, documented baseline for system performance and capacity, and report on it proactively.
Identity, Security and Compliance
- **Administer** Microsoft Entra ID (identity, conditional access, MFA, and least\-privilege access) and the full joiner\-mover\-leaver lifecycle.
- **Manage** endpoint and email security using the Microsoft Defender suite and triage alerts in Microsoft Sentinel or the equivalent SIEM.
- **Implement and maintain** IT security controls, data governance (for example Microsoft Purview), and compliance initiatives, and support audits and certifications.
- **Champion** a security\-first posture: patching discipline, vulnerability remediation, and incident response for IT systems.
Endpoint and End\-User Support
- **Manage** device provisioning, configuration, and compliance through Microsoft Intune, moving the fleet toward zero\-touch deployment.
- **Provide** responsive support to end users for hardware, software, and access issues, with clear SLAs and root\-cause follow\-up rather than repeat firefighting.
- **Handle** software and hardware installations, upgrades, and replacements across the business.
Automation and AI\-Enabled Operations
- **Automate** recurring IT work using scripting (PowerShell strongly preferred) and platform automation, so manual effort drops over time.
- **Adopt and govern** AI\-assisted tooling into daily operations, for example Microsoft Copilot for administration, AI\-driven monitoring and anomaly detection, and AI\-assisted ticket deflection and knowledge\-base responses.
- **Help define** clear, safe internal guidelines for AI tool usage across the company, including data\-handling boundaries, so colleagues use these tools productively and securely.
- **Contribute to** the IT roadmap and surface practical opportunities where automation or AI measurably reduces cost, risk, or response time.
Reliability, Backup and Business Continuity
- **Own and verify** backup, recovery, and business continuity processes, and test restores on a regular schedule rather than assuming they work.
- **Run** system monitoring and alerting so issues are caught and resolved before users report them.
- **Be** available outside normal business hours for critical incidents, major outages, urgent business needs, or security events.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- **Maintain** accurate IT documentation, runbooks, policies, and operational procedures, kept current as the environment changes.
- **Support** IT governance and bring industry best practices into how the team works.
- **Participate** in special projects and cross\-functional initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 to 8 years in IT systems, infrastructure, or cloud operations, with clear evidence of growing ownership over that time.
- Hands\-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Entra ID (Active Directory), Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure.
- Working knowledge of cloud security, governance, backup, and disaster recovery, with practical not just theoretical exposure.
- Scripting and automation ability, ideally PowerShell.
- Strong problem\-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, and clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a genuine desire to keep learning.
Preferred (Strengthens an Application)
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as AZ\-104 (Azure Administrator), MS\-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator), MD\-102 (Endpoint Administrator), SC\-300 (Identity and Access Administrator), or SC\-200 (Security Operations Analyst).
- Experience in a software or SaaS company and familiarity with multi\-tenant or cloud\-hosted environments.
- Exposure to SIEM or SOC operations and to security frameworks such as ISO 27001\.
- Practical experience deploying AI\-assisted operations tooling in a real environment.
